If you develop bad habits based on easier settings it can be much harder to correct them later. Part 5 of my Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord campaign on an Imperial playthrough If you are enjoying the series please hit Like, Subscribe, and leave commen. Developed by the people behind the popular 'Brytenwalda' mod, it was released on the 11th of December 2014, becoming the second official expansion to be published after Napoleonic Wars. Playing with full damage and good combat AI will give you a steep learning curve at the start, but it will be a productive learning curve. Mount & Blade: Warband - Viking Conquest, or simply Viking Conquest, is a single player and multiplayer expansion for Mount & Blade: Warband. In terms of difficulty, I recommend playing it on normal damage (no discounted damage), good combat AI, and either easy or normal campaign AI (as opposed to good) to start. I have never had a corrupted save in native, diplomacy, or Pendor (exception: Pendor updates), so I wouldn't consider that a serious worry. I recommend realism mode it makes your decisions that much more important, and if you get in the habit of save scumming it encourages you to develop a discerning eye for whether you should engage a battle (or not). For mods, my favourite is Pendor, but Perisno and Floris are both worth trying.Ī key decision to make early on is whether to play "realism" mode (ie, no quit without saving) and difficulty. Otherwise, you risk being bogged down with lots of extra features when you don't have a solid foundation in how to run your economy, combat, and conquest. There are a lot of great mods, but in my opinion you will enjoy them more once you have a familiarity with the base game.

I recommend starting with that, or else one of the mods that is essentially "native plus" - such as Diplomacy.

The vanilla game (native Warband) is a great game and stands up well on its own.
